Assessment
The music therapist evaluates the ability of the client, and together they establish goals and objectives. During this stage, the therapist will encourage the use of various instruments and determine a suitable counterpart to their skills.
Goals and Treatment
The music therapist and the client/parent will use the assessment information and create goals to achieve the client’s maximum potential. The therapist documents each session to observe the progress of the client. The goals will be reviewed throughout the treatment process. The treatment plan can be modified to help the client accomplish goals.
Evaluation
The music therapist evaluates the development of the client to determine the usefulness of the treatment plan. The steady growth of the client will be discussed with responsible parties regarding the observable changes in the client’s life. Recommendations will be made at this stage of the treatment.
